On Friday; live music, fireworks and specialty food vendors.
On Saturday; JDRF Fundraising Award (with proceeds going to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), live music, stage performances, and specialty food vendors.
Fireworks Display –
Fireworks will be displayed this year in the Old Town area. The display will begin at 8 p.m.
Where should I park?
Park in the Old Town area or the Lenexa Community Center parking lot.
Will there be shuttles?
No
Can beer/alcohol/coolers be brought in?
No “carry in” alcohol is allowed. The public is not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages to the event. Competition teams are allowed to bring in alcoholic beverages during the check-in process. The Lenexa Lions Club will sell alcoholic beverages in the concession area during the event.
Are dogs/pets allowed?
The Lenexa Chili Challenge allows service dogs for people with disabilities. No other dogs or pets are allowed at the Lenexa Chili Challenge or on the grounds at any time.
Are bikes, scooters or skateboards allowed?
No bikes, scooters or skateboards.
What time are teams allowed to check-in?
Teams can start arriving on Friday, October 19th at 12:00 p.m. However, due to the large expected crowds, teams need to make every effort to be in their booth by 5:00 p.m. Saturday check-in is also available from 7:00-9:00 a.m. Ambassadors will conduct meat inspections upon arrival.
Where will the Information booth be located and what will they provide?
The Information Booth will be located in the center of the site adjacent to the Old Town Shops. In addition to providing information and contest maps, resale items will be available for purchase. Chili shirts, jackets, lapel pins and other items will be for sale.
Will free samples be available from the teams?
Limited samples will be available on Friday night. Many teams will provide free samples on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. until gone.
How much is the gate fee?
Friday, October 19th – FREE
Saturday, October 20th – FREE
Spoons will be available for the public at the Information Booth (one per patron). Fresh sample cups of chili will be available at each contestant booth.
Who is providing concessions and what?
There are a variety of concessions available.
What band is playing & when?
The Shanks
Friday night, October 19th Time: 7:00-10:00 p.m. (break for fireworks)
Saturday, October 20th Time: 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Where is handicapped parking?
Located in the north Old Town lot and Community Center. Spaces are limited.
Where are port-a-potties?
In several locations throughout the site.
When do judges report?
Chili and Salsa judges report to the Lenexa Community Center at their designated times.
Hot Wing judges report to the Lenexa Senior Center at 1:00 pm.
All judges are pre-selected and assigned.

What are the different categories?
CASI CHILI is described as any kind of meat or combination of meats cooked with chili peppers, various other spices and other ingredients, with the exception of items such as beans or spaghetti, which are strictly forbidden.
HOME STYLE CHILI is described as any kind of meat or combination of meats cooked with various spices and other ingredients, which may include any variety of beans, spaghetti, or other fillers. Home Style may also include “noned” chili.
SALSA is described as any kind of sauce containing various spices, herbs, etc. typically tomato based, that can be used as a dip for chips. Excludes Guacamole and Cheese dips. Excessively hot salsas will be disqualified. Cooks must be willing to eat their own salsa.
HOT WINGS is described as a chicken wing either whole or part that may be cooked with various spices and other ingredients. Wings must be cooked on-site. All cooking methods (deep fried, grilled, smoked, etc.) are accepted for judging. Excessively hot wings will be disqualified. Cooks must be willing to eat their own wings
